How to Make a Scrapbook

So you have a shoebox full of pictures…and want to know how to make a scrapbook.

First, ask yourself these questions before you start scrapping…

#1 - Why are you making this scrapbook? Is it a brag book for your children's grandparents that will be filled with pages as they grow up? Is it an event specific scrapbook, such as one that will chronicle your trip to Hawaii?

#2 - What photographs will you be using? Are your pictures stored in acid-free boxes or saved on a computer? Do you need to have reprints or enlargements made? If you have a hard drive full of digital pictures and are looking for a quality developer – try Snapfish. Their everyday price for a 4 x 6 print is 12¢, but you can get them for as low as 10¢! #3 - Go back to Question #1… What is the theme of your scrapbook? Now, what embellishments and/or memorabilia would work best with this theme? As we've said before, you want to keep the focus on the pictures, but the right amount of embellishments and/or memorabilia can help to balance the page.

The answers to these questions will determine what type/size of album you will use, as well as the paper and embellishments you will need. Now, onto the good stuff…designing your scrapbook layouts!

We know how intimidating it can be to walk into a craft/scrapbook store. The shelves are stacked to the ceiling with beautiful paper, stickers and supplies, but you don't know where to start.

Well, we promise that it's not difficult and you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars at your local craft store to make a very nice scrapbook. In fact, you can probably find a lot of what you need at Wal-Mart or Target. So, when you take your children out to stock up on school supplies, bring this list with you and you'll be on you're way.
